Over the past 40 years God has used this congregation in
dynamic ways. From her very conception Our Savior was destined to be a unique place used by God.
Her founding members were men and women with a vision that
God could use them to reach a whole new segment of their town in a whole new location. With God given courage they chose
a location that was (at the time) way out beyond the western edge of the city. Then they decided on a round very modern
design for the church building. They also determined they were going to build a church they could grow into. With
growth in mind they built a church that could seat 450 people even though at the time total membership was less than 150.
God
used our founding members
in ways that would have
been hard for them to imagine. In
the past 40 years Our Savior
has grown and out grown
and out grown those original
facilities again and again.
In the past classrooms
have been added, office
space has been added. During
our last building phase
more classrooms, offices
and a Family Life Center
were added. At that
time many of us thought
we had built a facility
that would accommodate at
this location for the next
10-20 years. No one
could have envisioned what
God had in mind for His
church. At the time
we thought we were building
a Family Life Center for
fellowship and youth activities.
Our Savior was an
active congregation with
about 400 people in three
weekend worship services.
It turns out that
what we actually built was
a "sanctuary." Our
Family Life Center is now
the location of two weekend
services with more than
350 in attendance. In
addition to those two services
we still conduct the original
three services in the sanctuary
and right now we are averaging
335 people in those three
services. The Family
Life Center has been a huge
blessing to the ministry
at Our Savior. However,
because we are using this
room as a makeshift sanctuary
we are unable to use it
for the reason it was originally
built, fellowship and youth
activities.
