What age is considered Middle High?

Middle High is made up of 5th-8th graders.

At what age does Confirmation start?

Confirmation, intended for those in seventh grade or older, equips youth in developing a lifelong relationship with Christ, identifying with the mission of the church, and building relationships with leaders, peers and family. Our Savior's Confirmation program is three years and includes weekly education and small group activities for youth and their parents. At the end of the program, students enter the Rite of Confirmation.

Where is the Upper Room?

The Upper Room refers to the youth space in our Discipleship Wing, on the northwest side of the building.

Is a background screening required for volunteers?

Yes, for roles especially involving children or youth, we conduct background checks to ensure safety.

The teenage years can be some of the hardest—full of questions about identity, pressure from friends and culture, emotional ups and downs, and a deep desire to belong. We understand these challenges and commit to walking alongside students during this critical season of life. Through youth ministry designed specifically for teens, we provide a safe, welcoming place where they can build real friendships, ask honest questions, grow in their faith, and discover their God-given purpose with guidance from caring leaders who truly want the best for them.

Sunday Mornings

Sundays 9am-10:10am | Current 5th-12 Grade Youth

In small groups, youth grow their faith together with Bible lessons they can apply to their own lives.

5th-8th grades

Middle High Ministry

Middle School and Junior High provide us with some of the greatest times of our life, but this age also brings a lot of hardships and struggles as well. Here at Our Savior our staff and volunteers are focused on providing a community for 5th-8th graders. This community is a place where youth can come with their joys and sorrows and be built up by other Christians, but most importantly be pointed to Christ in all things.

Lutheran valley retreat

Middle High youth and volunteer adults enjoy the outdoors and serve others by getting the Lutheran Valley Retreat camp in Florissant, Colo., ready to open its season.

Confirmation

Confirmation is to equip youth in developing a lifelong relationship with Christ, be able to identify with the mission of the Church and build relationships with the leaders, peers, and family. It creates opportunities where youth can grow in their relationship with one another, have faith conversations with their parents, and grow in their relationship with Christ.

Sr High Youth Ministry

Our Savior Lutheran Church Youth Ministry strives to point people to Christ by providing a safe environment that creates opportunities for youth to be transformed in Christ's likeness.

Wednesday Nights

Senior High Youth meet every Wednesday night and form community in small groups led by caring adult mentors.

3rd Year Confirmation

Our Savior's three-year Confirmation program culminates with the Rite of Confirmation in a fall ceremony annually.

Sr High Events and service projects

Youth have the opportunity for fellowship with each other and to reach out to the community by serving others as the body of Christ through different experiences that we provide.

LCMS National Youth Gathering

Next gathering in 2028

National LCMS Youth Gatherings are held every three years for and are intended for high school youth ages 14-19 at the time of the gathering. The YG is an incredible way for you to grow in relationships with your peers and with God. In these five days, more than 35,000 youth from across the nation will come together in worship, through service, and fellowship.

Youth Fundraising & Service

Youth can earn funds for trips by completing service in a number of ways including:

HyVee Donuts - one time per youth a year

Director of Youth Ministry

Meet Brandon Heath

Brandon has been working with youth and young adults his entire career, 25 years in La Mesa, California and now at Our Savior. When he attended the LCMS Youth Gathering as a high schooler, he realized that God was calling him to this career. He continues to serve the church by leading the Young Adult Volunteers at the Youth Gathering and has been in this role since 2010. He met his wife, Elisabeth, while they were both volunteering at the Gathering. While they don't have kids of their own, they have "adopted" several of their friends' kids as their own. Brandon has been collecting comic books since he was a kid (he loves Superman). His favorite Bible verse is also his confirmation verse, Matthew 6:33.
